Geology-Morphology

Volcanic rocks, rich in minerals, as well as neogene formations with quaternary depositions occur in the area. The region is divided in two main geological zones: the northern zone, dominated by third degree ophiolite complexes that have undergone intense erosion and have formed a mild relief and the southern zone, where Paleogene volcanic and sedimentary rocks emerge, shaping a complex terrain with rocky outcrops. The terrain is characterized by a turnover of small and large valleys, gentle and steep slopes, as well as a diverse hydrographic network with small and large streams. The highest peak of the National Park is Kapsalo at 620 m.
